Step 1 : Collect Underpants

Well, it's a slightly more reasonable plan than that. First day of the new diet. I just wasn't able to stick with the crazy cheater diet.

1500 calories a day, 2250 calories two days a week.

Bowl of cheerios in skim milk for breakfast, large navel orange for my first snack at about 10:30 AM.

Moderately hungry, but not unbearable. Just about to head to lunch, where I will eat a salami and cheese sandwich.

I recently read an article that compared weight watchers to an RPG. The xkcd strip about exercise is also appropriate. We'll see if it's a game that holds my interest, but I'm hopeful.

Having more calories a couple days a week sounds like a good way to make it easier to stick to.

This is just me, but I find that when I'm working on goals it helps to have spreadsheets and charts (and twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was) to track my progress. I find it very satisfying and motivating to see my progress in graphical format. But I'm all OCD like that...

The calorie bumps are partially to make it feel like you're not deprived, but also so that your metabolism doesn't go into "starvation mode".

And yeah, I've got a Google docs spreadsheet where I'm keeping a food diary, although I've been looking at FitDay and it's pretty nifty.

They have cool calorie tracking software! I used to use it all the time til my palm broke and i stopped using my own laptop for work stuff.

I used Palm software, but apparently fitday.com is free.

I just started looking at fitday.com and it's pretty nifty. I had a Google Docs spreadsheet set up to keep a food diary, but I might just switch, since it somewhat simplifies the process of looking up calories and entering foods, and has things for keeping track of exercise and whatnot.

We'll see how annoying the ads are.

I'd like Adblock a lot more if it didn't dramatically decrease Firefox performance. Perhaps it has improved since I last used it, but when I first tried it I found my page load times increased by 2-4 seconds per page, which was pretty unacceptable.

Hmm... haven't noticed that.

Do you have a link to the article about weight watchers and RPGs? I'd love to read it!

Cool! This sounds way more healthy and real than atkins!!
